1950-67 Uniform
I thought I’d take a break from the more recent years’ sets, and work my way to the past. Pictures are even harder to come by from these years, but thankfully, Auburn’s Glomerata (the yearbook) is posted online, from 1897-2003, so I have many pictures from back then.
Ralph “Shug” Jordan, yes the famed football coach, coached many (if not all) of these teams during this time period. The 1959-60 team actually won the SEC Championship.
(Remember, the earlier uniforms consisted of the short shorts, yet my template does not convey that very well. So I tried my best to keep it as close as possible to the old shorts. Hopefully they don’t look too far off)
As you can see, Auburn wore the same template for both their uniform sets. I did not find any pictures of an orange uniform. And all pictures from here to further in the past are all in black and white, so any color is more or less a guess on my part. All striping on these uniforms are smaller than depicted here. The numbers and wordmarks were huge back then. Maybe not quiet this big, but bigger than usual. The team also wore real belts back then, and I love their orange belts.
I know content is slowing down, but it is taking much more time and research into the older uniforms. Stay with me and hopefully I’ll make more progress real soon!
