Auburn Men’s Basketball Uniform History

Auburn Men’s Basketball’s uniform history spans multiple design eras, from basic and simple in the 1980s to outlandish and unconventional in the late 1990s and early 2000s. None are more fondly remembered than the 1998-99 tiger-striped white uniforms that Chris Porter and Company wore to the NCAA Tournament as a 1-seed.

In 2006, Auburn celebrated the program’s 100th anniversary while the SEC reached its 80th season. The Tigers wore a centennial patch on the primary uniforms, with a league-wide throwback series planned for the conference season. Auburn’s chosen throwbacks harkened back to the Charles Barkley mid-1980s design, complete with the conference’s anniversary patch.

Bruce Pearl’s first season as head coach saw a unique, subtly tiger-striped look worn for the bulk of the conference schedule, en route to an incredible run in Nashville at the SEC Tournament. Then, another 1980s throwback-inspired uniform was rolled out in 2016 as the primary look, edited in 2017, and worn through the historic 2019 Final Four appearance.
