Old Auburn Gear
I’m currently working on a few new pieces, and still juggling some new ideas for future series in my head. But in the meantime, I wanted to do something a little different. I put out a call on twitter to have people send me a picture of anything old school Auburn they had. Yes, this is similar to The War Eagle Reader’s now all-but-defunct Auburn Relics series, but I didn’t even think about that until long after I started receiving pictures from people.
So, the first picture that came in has to be one of my favorites. Former Auburn basketball player Kyle Davis sent me a picture of his awesome old jersey that he wore during his time here on the Plains. I’m a sucker for the old uniforms!
The next tweet sent in is from AUIE81, and he sends in his step father’s amazing API/Auburn pennant. I have never seen that API logo, so I’m in love with this and wish it was on my wall!!
Came from stepdad but I think it’s cool! “@Clintau24: I want to see your retro Auburn gear!” pic.twitter.com/kQLeQf25Cv

These next three all come from Rebecca Schober. First, it’s really hard not to love anything that has the leaping tiger on it. And what’s with the light blue shading of the script Auburn? Never seen that before.

How can you not love a Pat Dye Camp shirt?!

And lastly, a wonderfully awesome plastic cup that I presume was from Jordan-Hare.

Now this is awesome. A sweatshirt celebrating the 1992 Centennial season! I’ve seen that back logo before, but never seen the front design. And boy is it pretty!

Going along with that last entry, here’s the 50th Anniversary logo for Jordan-Hare.

This one’s pretty cool. An Al Del Greco Phoenix Cardinals player card, but look at the border of the picture. Yep! It’s the beloved football stripes from Auburn! Odd that they would combine two different aspects like that…
To wrap this post up, I’d like to share some of my own gear. One of my favorite items is an old barstool that I rescued from the garage. It’s just so cool.
I have an old 2000 program poster hanging on my wall back home. For the Iron Bowl a few years ago (2007 I think), it was announced that Ben Leard was signing autographs, and I remembered that he was on the poster I had for so long. So I brought it down for the game with me and got him to sign it. He was shocked when he saw it, saying “Man! This thing is old!” It’s hanging in the same spot on my wall.
If you have anything awesomely Auburn AUsome, please send it to me! I’d love to see what all you have. Shirts, sweaters, hats, posters, anything! If it is an old, vintage Auburn item, I want to see it! Especially if it has some rare or forgotten logos. You may even see your picture used in a future post like this one.
War Eagle!
