Auburn Baseball Tracker Week 3
Another early week of Auburn baseball has finished. After a rough weekend hosting the Tiger Classic, the Tigers were ready for a new week to put it all behind them. The new week started on Wednesday when Auburn hosted Alabama A&M out of Huntsville, Ala.
For the midseason game versus the Bulldogs the Auburn Tigers broke out the pinstripes for the first time this season. Auburn won the game 7-3 after scoring 5 runs in the first inning and held on to hold them to one run in three separate innings.
The weekend series featured the Blue Hose (socks, seriously) of Presbyterian College out of South Carolina. The Friday night game ended in a 10-6 win for Presbyterian, with Auburn scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to fall short in their rally.
On Saturday, Auburn turned the series around winning 3-0 in a pitching duel, in which freshman Keegan Thompson threw a 3-hit complete game. Ryan Tella scored the first run in the 4th, Damek Thomscha and Daniel Robert scored the final two runs in the 6th, with Robert stealing home in a perfectly executed double steal.
The final game of the week featured a nice 12-5 win for Auburn. Trey Wingenter got his first career start but struggled out of the gate and only wasted 2/3 of the first inning. The Tigers went through four pitchers to get through the game, but eventually got the win and won the series, which was must needed for this team.
The updated uniform records are now:
- Orange jerseys, white pants, striped stirrups 2-1
- White jerseys, white pants, plain stirrups 2-1
- Blue jerseys, white pants, plain stirrups 1-1
- Grey jerseys, grey pants 0-1
Can we please burn those pinstripe unis that don't have orange? For one, I hate the Yankees and that's what they look like and 2, How do you have an Auburn uni with no orange?
Funny you say that. The players absolutely love the pinstripes. They even call them the Yankee pinstripes set.
