Auburn Baseball Uniform Tracker Week 8
Oh boy was it a rough week for Auburn baseball. Today’s post will be short solely because of the reason.
Tuesday night Auburn hosted the Samford Bulldogs from Birmingham. Samford ended up winning 8-1 in what was a really bad night for the Tigers.
For the weekend, Auburn traveled to Oxford, Miss. The Friday night game ended up going 13 innings, with Ole Miss winning 8-5 after a 3-run homer on what was an intended intentional walk. The pitch didn’t get far enough outside the the plate, and the batter ended up swinging to win the game. Saturday consisted of a double-header with bad weather expected Sunday. Ole Miss ended winning both games 6-0 and 5-1 to sweep Auburn, the Tigers’ first sweep of the year.
Auburn wore the grey uniforms for the entire weekend once again, just as they did in Tennessee. In Knoxville, Auburn wore the greys because they continued to win. In Oxford, they lost the first (and second) games, and continued to wear the same uniforms. We know the reason they wore them back-to-back-to-back at UT because they continued to win. So seeing them even appear in the Friday night game is surprising with Golloway being very superstitious and only wearing the same uniform again after a win. With only two road trip series and the trip to Kennesaw State in the books, we’ve only seen the grey uniforms in true road games. We’ll have to see if these are the only uniforms for road trips after this weekend in Tuscaloosa.
The overall uniform records are now:
This week Auburn hosts Troy on Tuesday night trying to get back on track. Auburn has fallen to 19-14 overall and 5-7 in conference, so a good win at home will add some much needed momentum as the team heads to Alabama for the weekend. Since none of the games are televised this weekend, if you want to listen, download the TuneIn Radio app and tune to 94.3 WINGS out of Auburn.
