2018 Auburn Under Armour Apparel Overview

With each new season of football comes another line of apparel. Auburn and Under Armour have slowly rolled out this year’s apparel line over the summer months. In what is the fourth edition of this article, you will find brief overviews and listed prices of much of this year’s merchandise available.

This overview is meant to guide fans through what is available most of the time. These listings have all been found on Fanatics unless otherwise noted. If you visit any store on or around campus, their selection may differ. More merchandise will most likely be available in person that isn’t online.

Hats

Most apparel manufacturers create a product with very few differences across the multiple teams provided. Under Armour created a “line matrix” type pattern that you will see throughout the sideline gear this year. The main coaches caps feature the pattern up and around the front two panels. The front line of the bill contrasts with the rest of the bill. Only the blue and white versions are listed online, but expect to find orange caps in stores. These run at $29.99 and come in fitted and adjustable styles.

If you prefer the more relaxed fit hats without any extra details, grab this cap. It comes in fitted and adjustable styles as well, and are priced at $31.99.

This year will see two styles of visors available. While they might look similar, they differ in both build and size. The first style, seen above, is what I would consider a “Steve Spurrier” style visor, with the top of the front panel a bit larger. Under Armour is calling this the “Renegade Closer” style. It will cost you $24.99.

The second style of visor is the more traditional one, the type Gus Malzahn has worn. These are called the “Airvent Performance,” per Under Armour. These, for some reason, are priced a bit higher at $29.99.

For those of you looking to have a bit more protection from the sun, you can grab a new bucket hat for $39.99.

Polos

When Under Armour decides on a new design element, they place it just about everywhere. The coaches sideline polo will also carry the dot/line pattern across the top of the shoulders. It also goes down the back of the shirt a little bit, with the Northwestern stripes sitting on the back of the collar. The front of the shirt features another common motif, with the Auburn and Under Armour logos stacked on top of each other. I personally think it makes the polo look unbalanced, with the right chest now empty. These three are priced at $84.99.

If you like the stacked logos but not the dot pattern, then the “Vented” polo line might be for you. The body looks to have a heathered pattern, and the sleeve cuffs (and armpit area) are a solid shade. The button-line features a contrasting color which adds some nice contrast. These, too, will cost $84.99.

There has to be a striped polo also available each year. This season’s edition are a bit lackluster compared to others, but keep the striping to a clean look. Save a little money with this line, as they are priced at $69.99.

Charged cotton is one of the best products from Under Armour. If these polos are anything like the t-shirts, they’re spectacular and well worth the money. And at $54.99, it’s certainly worth picking up.

Love them or hate them, the Tiger Eyes logo is back on apparel. If you’re on the side of Auburn fans that appreciate the logo, grab this polo. It’s one of the cheaper items this season, at $54.99.

Don’t like all the bells and whistles on a polo? Grab a simple shirt with nothing but the AU logo. Only a blue version is online right now, but expect an orange and white style in stores. These run at $74.99.

T-Shirts

I hope you like dot/line stripes, cause all the sideline gear features it prominently. The sideline shirts are, in my eyes, the weakest part of this season’s apparel line. The line stripe only goes up half of the torso. The lettering on the chest is so small and the spacing so bad that it only bothers me when I look at it. If you like the shirt, it will cost you $44.99.

While the first shirt is designated as the overall athlete shirt, the above shirt looks to be an alternate sideline shirt for football. It’s no surprise that only football is showcased, but I would imagine each sport would get their own shirt of the same style. Some of those will be probably be available for purchase (baseball, basketball) and others probably won’t. They’re better looking than the other shirt, and much cheaper at $29.99.

Many elements are used across multiple products, and the stacked logos look is one of them. This t-shirt is priced at $31.99.

There really aren’t many Under Armour shirts with designs on the front and back for Auburn. Now you can showcase your school spirit on the front in a nice arching wordmark and scream the battle cry on the back. All for only $31.99!

For the military personnel in your life. Common t-shirt price, at $31.99.

It’s a little surprising to me just how different some of the elements can be from product to product. The tank top above is set up in the same stacked logo design as above, but not entirely the same. The Under Armour logo is no longer on the bottom, replaced with a simple AU, and the line in between is now the Northwestern stripe. $31.99.

Enjoy your workout a little more while wearing an old school Auburn logo. This heathered tank top features the classic eagle-A logo. It will be priced at $34.99.

The ladies get another great throwback option with this heathered grey shirt. These will run at $34.99.

There’s also a simple v-neck shirt with just the AU logo. Priced at $31.99.

Long Sleeves

This long sleeve shirt looks to be a combination of the line stripe shirt and the stacked logos. The stripes are on the sleeves this time, and end around the forearm. Not sure why the design looks smaller on the blue shirt. I imagine it was a Photoshop issue and they’ll all be the same size in person. They’re only a bit more expansive, priced at $49.99.

If you want a long sleeve shirt without the line stripes, you’ll be able to save some money. This shirt is priced at $39.99.

The team-specific design is also available with longer sleeves. It’s on the cheaper end this year at $34.99.

Wear your spirit on your sleeves – literally – with this new shirt. The large AU letters on the chest have a bit of an old school feel. Priced at $36.99.

Who doesn’t love baseball tees? Who doesn’t love retro football helmet shirts?! Combine those both with this great 3/4 sleeve shirt. Listed at $39.99.

Heart on sleeve, battle cry on chest. This long sleeve shirt actually comes from the Under Armour site rather than Fanatics. Priced at $40.00.

This ladies Charged Cotton long sleeve shirt makes sure everyone knows who you’re cheering for. Price set at $39.99.

Jerseys

Jerseys are always the most popular items. Each year, now, only select numbers are available, to avoid any player likeness issues. This year you’ll find numbers 1, 2, 18, and 34 available. Fanatics only has #1 listed right now, however. They went up in price a few years ago, listed at $94.99.

If those numbers won’t do it for you, consider a custom jersey. Interesting to see this option available online, as it has slowly disappeared from the local stores. Be aware that there might be restrictions online as in stores on certain numbers and names might not be allowed. No, you probably can’t buy a #8 with Stidham on the back. Because of the customization, it’ll cost $124.99.

A few years ago, Under Armour finally revealed a higher quality “premium” jersey, featuring sewn on numbers and no screen-printing. The jump is quality is well worth the $20 upcharge and I encourage everyone to gravitate that way. The replica jerseys are nice, but the screen-printing is always subpar. Throw the jersey in the dryer and the numbers start to crack. Sit in a plastic chair? Your numbers might get stuck and peel off. For $115, I think it’s well worth upgrading.

Jackets

The sideline jackets also combine the stacked logos with the line stripe. Somehow it looks best on this product. $89.99 is the price for these.

The player-issued jacket this season is a nice navy and grey “swacket” as Under Armour called it. It looks pretty heavy, but it’s listed as a “light-weight” jacket. Coats are expensive, especially from Under Armour. It’ll be priced at $139.99.

The “threadborne” quarter-zips are a classy look and would fit well on the golf course. They’ll run at $59.99.

Because there are simply so many jackets available, I won’t list every product on its own. Instead, here’s a group in one photo.

There are also multiple traditional hoodie designs available this year.

The “big logo” hoodies look to be perfect for staying warm and taking a nap. These naps will cost you $64.99.

The stacked logo has made its way over to a hoodie. It’s priced at $64.99 as well.

The team specific bar logo is also on a hoodie. Once again, they’re priced at $64.99. This one might solely be available for purchase for football and no other sports.

Finally, this “bar wordmark” hoodie. Like the other hoodies, it is priced at $64.99.

Sweaters

No flashy gimmicks this year with the sweater vest. Gus Malzahn went all of last season without sporting his iconic vest, but is expected to break it out again this year. Unless you’re an Auburn football coach, it will cost you $59.99.

If you like the sweater but not the vest style, the full sleeve version is also available. It’s priced at $71.99.

Shorts

For whatever reason, Under Armour hasn’t released as many styles of shorts recently. In fact, there’s only one product (for adults, that is) listed on Fanatics. And of course, it features the line stripes from the rest of the sideline apparel. They’re a bit pricey, cause Under Armour, listed at $54.99.

Shoes

Remember last year? Shipping issues kept the sideline shoes from being available in stores until mid October. Thankfully that hasn’t happened this year. The new shoes arrived in early August. The shoes are all white, departing from blue-based shoes for the first time in a long time, with blue surrounding the heel. These are new colorways of the HOVR line, and have the ability to connect to your phone to track running metrics. They unfortunately are not available online at this time, but you can order by calling any of the local stores. They are priced a little cheaper than last year at $100.

Tokyodachi

While not Under Armour, I wanted to showcase one of the more interesting and creative product lines available this year. Zephyr, renowned hat company, has created a Japanese anime-inspired mascot line called Tokyodachi. Over 150 mascots were re-imagined in this new style and are available in multiple applications.

I honestly thought this was a collaboration with some well-known Japanese entity, but it isn’t! Zephyr created this entire line from scratch (from what I’ve read) and I love it.

Aubie looks menacingly adorable in this recreation. These will be available in t-shirts, hats, stickers, lapel pins, flags, and so much more.

Auburn Uniform Database

We’ll finish off this year’s apparel guide with some personal merchandise. As you may be aware, the Auburn Uniform Database is celebrating five years this season. A special anniversary logo was released to commemorate, and it is available on a t-shirt.

There are many other designs available for purchase on the AUD TeePublic page. In addition to t-shirts, you can purchase any of the designs on coffee mugs, tumblers, posters, tote bags, hoodies, baby onesies, and so much more.

While that was a lot of products showcased, it still isn’t all. There are many products that just didn’t fit in this time around and as always, much more will be released throughout the athletic season.
