Another season of Auburn Athletics has come to an end.
Enjoy a look back at the last year of Auburn’s athletic uniforms and all the things that happened during the season!
Baseball
It was a disappointing end to a fun Auburn Baseball season that saw highs and lows and a lot of uniform news.
The Tigers started the season by debuting a new set of uniforms. The new threads carried a distinct throwback aesthetic harkening back to the golden ages of Auburn Baseball. Despite a delayed delivery, the Tigers finally had an orange colorway to wear later in the season.
The same weekend the orange tops debuted, Auburn honored Frank Thomas with a beautiful throwback block A hat.
Because of the supply chain issues, the Tigers were forced to wear the old-style white uniforms for a handful of games, creating an odd mix of base designs.
The new uniforms also brought a new set of batting helmets, the first time the Tigers had worn multiple shells since 2018. The new helmets carried 3D logos on the front and back – a first for the Baseball program.

The two helmets feature 3D logos with the AU on the front with the SEC logo and player numbers on the back. They were each flat decals previously.

The Tigers sported eight different hat/jersey/pants combinations on the season. Here’s how they each fared:

Men’s Basketball
The 2022-23 Auburn Basketball season was a rather uneventful one, uniform-wise. The Tigers continued to sport the same threads from the previous seasons, complete with the Auburn Unity patch on the back above the names.
Chris Moore singlehandedly made sure there was uniform-related news this season. Twice this year, the backup “blood jersey,” used after a primary jersey becomes unusable, was broken out – once at home and again on the road. The blood jersey was #55 in previous years but #41 was utilized this season.
Despite limping into the postseason, Auburn would grab another NCAA Tournament birth and victory. We take it for granted nowadays, but it’s still unique to see the NCAA patch on the Auburn jerseys. The patch wasn’t utilized until 2008 and the Tigers didn’t return to the big dance until the 2017-18 season.

Women’s Basketball
It was a turnaround season for Auburn in head coach Johnnie Harris’s second year on the Plains. The Tigers saw a respectable improvement going from a 10-18 record last year to a 16-15 record and a WNIT berth in 2023.
Uniform-wise, it was more of the same, however. The Tigers continued to wear the same uniforms from the last few years complete with the Auburn Unity patch on the front of the jersey. The now seven-year-old pink uniforms also saw action in what would have to be their last season of use.
Much like in Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy’s last season, the Tigers wore two different navy uniforms during the year. The primary blue design matched the whites with the Northwestern Stripes set vertically on the side of the jersey and shorts. The alternate look mimicked the men’s program’s orange uniforms with diagonal stripes on the top and bottom of the shorts and the “Tigers” wordmark across the chest. The second navy uniform was stored away for the 2021-22 season last year.
Also keeping with the last coaching staff’s tradition, Auburn Basketball failed to wear an orange uniform for the fifth time in six seasons. Oddly enough, the orange jersey was used to introduce Harris at the press conference back in 2021.
The Women’s Basketball uniforms catalog dates back to the 2005-06 season. Those historic designs can be seen here.
Football
It was another busy Football season – on and off the field.
Let’s start back in fall practice. The Tigers hit the practice field wearing new helmet decorations. The all-navy 3D bumpers that had been in place since 2017 were replaced with orange-outlined flat decals. These and the new chinstrap decals would be worn throughout the season to better match the AU logo on the side of the helmets.
Auburn continued to wear the white and orange facemasks that were introduced last year. Orange masks were worn against Penn State and Arkansas at home while the white facemasks saw action at Georgia and Ole Miss.
Bryan Harsin would attempt to make yet another aesthetic mark on the Auburn Football program. For the 2022 season, the three team captains would sport brand-new captaincy patches. The program’s first captain’s patches would be similar to the design the NFL has worn for many years now, rendered in navy with an orange C. The same patch would be worn on both the white and navy jerseys.
Auburn would also sport two special decals during parts of the season. The Tigers joined the movement to support Mental Health Week for the LSU game, joining over 115 schools wearing green ribbons. The ribbon was from Hilinski’s Hope Foundation, which was created to honor Tyler Hilinski. Tyler played quarterback at Washington State. He committed suicide in 2018 after his junior year, shocking the Washington State and college football communities.

Following the shooting that resulted in three Virginia football players’ deaths, numerous schools from across the country began wearing memorial decals in solidarity with the Charlottesville community. Auburn would wear the special decal for the final two games of the season.
With Harsin being let go and Hugh Freeze now leading the charge, it’ll be interesting to see how things change come this fall, if anything changes at all.

Gymnastics
Auburn Gymnastics sported just four new leotards this season after debuting six last year. You can see all 12 leotards worn during the season below:
Derrian Gobourne would compete as a solo in the NCAA Championships for the second time in her career. Much like the first trip to Fort Worth, Derrian would have the privilege of wearing another new leotard for the first time.

Derrian Gobourne debuted another new leotard last week at the NCAA Championships. The "Warrior" leo was the 5th new design for 2023.
This is the 2nd time that Gobourne has been the lone Tiger to debut a new leotard on her own.

Soccer
It was a struggle for the Auburn Soccer program this season, ending with a disappointing 6-6-6 record and missing postseason play.
It was a quiet season aesthetically, as well, as the Tigers sported the uniforms that first debuted last year. There was just one noteworthy item, when goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska debuted a new powder blue kit. The new long sleeve goalkeeper set was worn in three matches on the season.

Below you can see how each of the Auburn Soccer kits performed on the season individually and paired with the goalkeepers.
The Auburn Soccer uniform feature on the AUD is admittedly lacking, but the plan is to flesh that section out a good bit soon enough. You can view the current collection of soccer uniforms here.
Softball
The Auburn Softball season saw three new uniform sets for the 2023 season and plenty of mix-and-match options. Outside of the pinstripe jerseys, every other uniform element was utilized in multiple different combinations, with the white jerseys and white pants each being worn in five combos.
Other than the new uniforms (which you can read about in detail here), it was a rather uneventful season uniform-wise for the Softball team. The only other bit of news came with the batting helmets, as the Tigers moved away from the Under Armour helmets in favor of new Mizuno shells.

Volleyball
The greatest season in Auburn Volleyball history saw the program’s second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and second victory.
The season started off with a new set of jerseys that featured Northwestern Stripes on the side of the body and down the bottom half of the sleeves. Auburn also continued to wear the previous set of tops that were a much simpler design. The libero also sported powder blue tops with the Auburn Unity patch for the majority of matches.
Auburn introduced a new pink jersey for Breast Cancer Awareness that featured a subtle pinstriping effect on the chest.

The final eleven matches of the season saw the addition of player names added to the back of the jerseys below the numbers.
The 2022 season also marked the first time the NCAA patch appeared on an Auburn Volleyball jersey. The only previous NCAA appearance for the Tigers came in 2010 while the patches began being worn in 2015.
The Tigers spent early June playing some games in Italy. For the international trip, Auburn showcased some new gear. A new set of navy and powder blue sleeveless tops were worn, both featuring the Northwestern Stripes on the sides and the original script Auburn logo on the chest.
Sleeveless jerseys and compression sleeves have recently become the norm in volleyball. This could be a sign of things to come for another new set of uniforms for the fall season.
Auburn mixed it up throughout the season with both the team and libero wearing six jersey designs each. Take a look at the overall uniform records and the team-libero combination records below:

The 2022-23 Auburn Athletics season saw its fair share of highs and lows and new uniforms throughout.
