2008-09 Uniforms
2008 was the first year to feature the circle SEC logo on the Auburn basketball uniforms. The logo has been on the left chest ever since. On November 8, 2008, Virgil Starks, Auburn’s athlete counselor and academic supporter, passed away. To honor Starks, all Auburn athletic teams wore a VS logo with a graduation cap and tassel on it. The logo is as followed:
The VS logo was worn on the right chest of the basketball uniforms after the November 19th game versus Mercer, which means they played one game between Starks’s death and the addition of the path. This is what the uniforms look like with both patches.
White or orange piping blazon the jersey and pants, down the side, down the pants, across the chest, and across the back of the pants. Small white or orange block and bottom of V-neck. Small AU logo below blocked off V-neck. Under Armour logo on left thigh, AU logo on lower right pant leg. “TIGERS” written on the back left leg (this seemed to be hit or miss, as it was on some pictures, but not others. Same goes for 2006-07 uniforms.)
This is the last year this uniform design was worn, as Under Armour soon rolled out their new 2009-12 design. The 2008-09 season was also the final season played in Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum. The following seasons were and continue to be played in the new Auburn Arena. This logo was placed on the court of BEMC during the final season.
Three designs down, many many more to come. Thanks for reading!
